FUSS 2012 COMMITTEE POSITIONS ARE NOW OPEN!


What’s all the FUSS?  It’s time to find out!  Nominate for a position on the 2012 FUSS committee and involve yourself in an innovative and vibrant student society!  This year our theme is ‘beyond borders,’ encouraging us all to learn about surgery in a new light!  Help us by getting involved.

For available positions see below (brackets indicate the number of positions available), and  for further information email the contact person listed for each position.   If you wish to apply please email your 250 word nomination to Rachél van Staden (vans0037@flinders.edu.au) by 5pm 15.03.2012.

 

Treasury Officer (1)
Contact: Michael Gouzos, gouz0004@flinders.edu.au
Assist the Treasurer in managing FUSS finances
Assist with managing Annual Budget
Assist with compiling Annual Finance Report (AGM address)
Assist with tax return and liaison with ATO
Liaise with Sponsorships and Fundraising Officers.

Sponsorship Officer (1)
Contact: Taaibos Human, huma0006@flinders.edu.au

Assist Sponsorship officer (SO) in maintaining relationship between FUSS and sponsors
Assist SO in seeking new sponsors/presenting alternative sponsorship models
Approaches sponsors for membership benefits such as discounts
Assist in compiling annual Sponsors report (AGM address)
Assist in organizes fundraising events to generate income

Communications/IT Officer (1)

Assist with maintenance of FUSS website
Assist in regularly updating website and FUSS Facebook
Provide IT support to all committee members for FUSS related matters
Responsible for communication of functions/events via internet and email to all members of FUSS

Social Officer (2)

Assists Social Director in coordinating official FUSS social functions
Assist in directing sub-committees of specific events
Liaise with sponsorship officer and treasurer for funding of social events
Assist in contacting guest speakers to attend social functions
Assist in compiling report of annual Events (AGM address)

Academic-Workshops Officer (4)

Assist in organizing the FUSS academic and workshop events
Assist in contacting speakers and facilitators
Liaise with Clinical Skills Coordinator with regards to conflicts of interest
Liaise with Treasurer and Sponsorships Office regarding gifts and funding
Liaise with FMSS and other societies with regard to education events to avoid event conflicts.
Prepares gifts and certificates for each guest speaker

Community Activities Officer (1)

Assists Director of Community Activities in organising community events
Liaises with major charities Interplast Australia and New Zealand and Specialists without Borders
Liaises with Treasurer and Sponsorships Office regarding gifts and funding
Liaises with Communications Officer regarding promotion of community activities.

Promotes FUSS events to GEMP 1
Obtains regular feedback from GEMPI students regarding FUSS events and commitments

SCRUBCRAWL

Spring is in the air, the sun is shining, the birds and bees are out doing something unscrupulous, and most importantly SCRUBCRAWL is almost here. 400 medical students from Flinders and Adelaide Medical School’s converge upon an unsuspecting Adelaide for one epic night (Friday October 7) swathed in scrubs, with some incredible drink apecials. Surgical Careers Night Registration

Online registration for the FUSS Surgical Careers Night is now OPEN. This is our biggest and best educational event for the year.

What you need to know:

• Held on the 6th of September at the Hilton International, Adelaide, 5pm-10pm (registration 5-5:40 pm)

8 surgeons speaking about a variety of surgical fields

• The event is FREE which includes a FREE buffet and FREE access to trade exhibition with FREE giveaways and prizes (including textbooks and more!!)

• Registration online is essential before 1st September to secure a ticket for the night.

Surigcal Careers Night

Flinders University Surgical Society is proud to announce that Surgical Careers Night is on the 6th September, Tuesday, starting 5pm at the Hilton International Hotel, Adelaide.After a great success from last year’s event, we hope to attract students from Flinders Medical School, Adelaide medical school, interns and other doctors for this high quality educational evening.

We have a phenomenal list of surgeons who will talk on the evening:
